CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER WANTED

ABOUT THE VEMOYE FOUNDATION:

We're raising Africa's future workforce by providing educational institutions with the support and resources they need to pass on 21st-century skills to as many students as possible.

​

GENERAL PURPOSE:

As the Chief Operations Officer (COO) you will provide oversite to all operations projects. This includes planning, organizing the volunteers and stakeholders, implementation, project control, and implementation. You will be the programme director and monitor all our projects as well as liaise with others within the C-suite (CEO, CFO and CMO) to get things done.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

1. Plan and implement projects

a) Define the scope of the project, create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project and determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project and project estimated budget.

b) Execute the project according to the project plan and monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.

 

2. Organizing the volunteers and stakeholder selection

a) Manage our volunteer pool and assign roles and responsibilities to volunteers and stakeholders with the appropriate skills necessary to carry out all project activities.

b) Facilitates stakeholder and volunteer meetings, ensures minutes are taken and summarize deliverables to ensure stakeholders are organized and remain on task for the duration of the project.

f) Oversee RFP process for new projects.

 

QUALITIES &CHARACTERISTICS:

  1. Leadership - Has great leadership qualities and is comfortable leading a team of volunteers

  2. Organised – The role has multiple moving parts and we’re looking for someone who can monitor it all.

  3. Communication – This role requires communicating with others within the executive, volunteers and stakeholders. Written and verbal communication is very important.

  4. Passion for the cause – The Vemoye Foundation has big plans to shake up the African education system and we those within the executive to be passionate about access to education as well as passionate about Africa achieving its full potential.

  5. Problem solver – Within our projects, you will need to make a call on different issues and problems that may arise. You need to be a good decision-maker and problem-solver.

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of project management, timelines, deadlines, and follow-through on finished projects.

  • Proficiency in the use of computers for:

COMMITMENT REQUIREMENT

  • Monthly meeting with the C-Suite (CEO, CFO, CMO, COO)

  • 5 hours a week

  • Remote working
